Ruby Francis tells Bella Mead about what lead her to the music industry, and the meaning behind the record of the week ‘Paranoid’

I had a chat with Ruby Francis about her earlier experiences with music from a young age before starting a career in the music industry, alongside working with good friend, Shift K3Y,

Ruby talks about her musical influences such as Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, Pharrell, Bjork and music styles from the 70’s and 80’s. She also says the genres, Jazz and Neo-Soul play a big part in infuencing her music too.

She talks about possible collaborations with Shift K3Y and NK-OK, one half of Blue Lab Beats, but she has also been writing and working on her own material.

She is performing at XOYO on the 11th May, and will be performing alongside Blue Lab Beats at The Great Escape Festival from 18th – 20th May
