Motivational Monday: Power of Thoughts

I’ve had so many questions in the last couple of weeks and since joining church.

Specifically this week. Its as if God spoke directly through to the pastor to give out this message to me, and it touched me so much that I thought to write about it, so that I don’t forget the message and something told me to share it, as someone else might be touched by it.

The sermon today was The Battle of the mind. It was so important that my pastor touched on this today because I guess lately, it has been a big warfare in my mind, if I do say so myself.  Doubt and worry has been creeping up and just full of nothing but negative thoughts which is unusual for me.  I think everyone goes through moments like this, but I guess it was more than ever now. You know that feeling when things don’t seem right, where things seem to be slow moving and you start to get weary and then our mind gets exposed to negative thoughts that almost make you lose faith.

Now we all know that the mind is the most complex and powerful organ that’s ever lived. And thoughts are just as powerful. Jesus himself, said that if we had faith the size of a mustard seed we could tell the mountain to move and it would move. These words show that even the Son of God knows the power of our thoughts, since words are formed from thoughts. All we have to do is believe in what we think and allow those thoughts to come to fruition.

Now imagine all the negative thoughts that you have been thinking lately that coincided with that negative circumstance? The circumstance you’re in, hasn’t changed and you’re wondering, why is the circumstance not changing?

Because the truth is…. the problem is not the circumstance, it’s what you think about your circumstance.

The problem is not your past, its what you keep telling yourself and what you keep thinking about your past.

The problem is not that, your career is not moving, the problem is that you keep thinking and keep telling yourself that your career is not moving.

The problem is not that you’ve lost control of your life, and that you can’t get the control back the problem is that you keep telling yourself that you’ve lost control of your life.

The enemy is real. You could be doing so well, and all it takes is one person to whisper something in your ear and BOOM! Like a moth to a flame,  the bondage comes to the mind, Suddenly you’re confused. Have you ever had that? You knew exactly what you were going to do, you had a strategy. You knew exactly what you were going to say, how you was going to do something and then all of a sudden someone comes to disrupt your clarity.

YOUR MIND was clear and all of a sudden, it’s cluttered. All of a sudden, too many thoughts are rushing through and you can’t find one clear dominant thought that lasts long enough because there’s just too much going on in your mind and before you know it, you’re exhausted and you’re just done. Done with it all. Done with everything. You’re just in this loap hole.

Who has hindered you?

God does not decide what you think. The enemy does not decide what you think. YOU DECIDE WHAT You think.

I’m going to be honest with you, I use to be a chain cigarette smoker but the funny thing is, I wanted to stop smoking. True story

Every week someone would hear me say, whilst having a ciggerette “I’ll quit.” “I’ll stop smoking”  but I’ll tell you the ultimate problem was, truth be told…… I didn’t see myself as a non smoker. I loved smoking cigarettes. I had met so many people smoking cigarettes and had created some awesome memories. Some of my best memories smoking (Oh, so that’s what I told myself.)  I could not see myself as a non smoker and I believed that If I stopped smoking, I wouldn’t have the best memories ever again.
It  wasn’t until I was thinking about my future one day and really took a look in the mirror and said “I don’t see myself, smoking when I’m older and I remember someone said to me, “but you will,  because you’re smoking now” –

The worse thing in life is to know what you have to do, but you’re just not doing it. I knew that in order for me to ensure what I said, would be truth and that I wouldn’t be smoking for the rest of my life, I had to meditate on the thought of being a non smoker and implicate it in my life.

My pastor goes on to talk about, Weapons to help fight those strongholds, and he discusses that God has already given us exactly what we need to ensure that we are prosperous and fulfilled in our life and to have the weapons to fight off anything that comes our way.

In war, (don’t mean to get all technical now) but the party  with the best weapon’s wins. He made a really important point about the enemy already having an advantage over us when, our bible is catching dutch in your cupboard, on the shelf, under your bed or wherever you store it instead of using it to fight the battle.

Matthew 4:1-11 When Jesus was tested in the Wilderness, he said 3 times, that IT IS WRITTEN.

That’s confirming that my thoughts may not be that powerful, they may not be able to beat this battle but God’s words……God’s words are powerful.

Truth be told. We can try. We can try to fight those thoughts by ourselves. I’ve tried. I’ve tried and of course I’ve failed. It’s a spiritual warfare and the only way we can fight this battle is by God’s word and i’ll encourage anyone who is reading this because i know there’s not one problem that the bible has not written about – but i encourage you to see what the scriptures say about the issue, that your mind is dealing with, and meditate on those words and tell that to yourself everyday and see if it makes a difference, It made a difference in my life.

These are mine.
Exodus 3:11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of

Exodus 4:10 Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you

have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”

11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?

12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.
Psalm 71:5 For you have been my hope, O Sovereign lord, my confidence since my youth.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Since thoughts are powerful, it is only fitting that the thoughts we have be conducive to what we want. If you think prosperity, you will receive prosperity. If you think poverty, you will reap poverty. No matter what your station in life may be, what you are right now is the way you thought previously. Always remember that. It is imperative that you keep this in your mind. What you think about you will manifest. You cannot erase your thoughts but you can create new ones. The enemy uses such a powerful tool to deceive us, and to weaken our faith and he uses a “LIE”. He makes you believe that, you can find your way on your own then shows you screen grabs of people on instagram or on Facebook that seem to be living wonderfully. “Oh but she, is an atheist and look at her life. Its amazing. Look at her husband, look at the car she drives, look at the work field that she is in, but remember things are NEVER as it seems. Its a LIE. Take a picture at the right moment and everything will look perfect. Take that same picture at the wrong moment and what do you have?

For me, I realised, I went away from church and away from God trying to find something that could only be found in God.

Get the full picture first. and tell the enemy “since you want to lie to me about my future, I’ll tell you the truth about yours.

Father God, we give you praise and exalt your name because you are holy

thank you for your mercy, and we thank you for your grace

father allow these words to touch someones heart today, allow it to fill someones mind today. allow it to enrich someones faith

the enemy is desperate as he knows, his time is coming to an end.

help us father, renew our minds, give us the strength to fight off these strongholds, to fight off the enemy with your word. my will, may not be powerful enough to fight off those strongholds, but I know that your will would be as you are Lord.

give us a willing heart to meditate on your word and to do according to your will.

In Jesus name we pray
